The Halbert Centre for Canadian Studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem is pleased to announce

THE HALBERT POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP FOR STUDIES IN CANADA FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR OF 2024-2025

This fellowship is intended for emerging scholars seeking to enhance professional connections with top universities in Canada during the 2024-2025 academic year.

One fellowship in the sum of up to 50,000 CAD (Canadian dollars) will be offered for one academic year, once every two years.

The Halbert Post-Doctoral Fellowship is open to graduates from the faculties of Social Sciences, Humanities, Law and the schools of Social Work,  Education, and Business Administration at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, who will fulfill all requirements for their doctoral degree by August 31, 2024.
 

This post-doc is also open for graduates  who have completed their PhD at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem no more than three years (at the time of commencing) prior to submission.

Final date to apply: February 29, 2024 to be considered for fellowships commencing in the beginning of the  2024-2025 academic year.

DOCUMENTS TO INCLUDE

1.  Research proposal

Your proposal should not exceed 1,500 words in Times New Roman, 12 point font, and 1.5 spacing. Each page should be numbered consecutively and include your name and “Halbert Post-Doc Fellowship” at the top right-hand corner. The proposal should be written for general academic readers and not for specialists in your field.

The proposal should include the following elements:

• Abstract of about 250 words

• Research topic and the relevant literature review

• The questions and goals of the proposed research

• The methodology you intend to use (sample, data gathering method, data analysis  plans)

• The way in which the project fits into the existing literature

• The potential contribution of the project

• The proposed strategy for the dissemination of your research.

• The distinction between the current project and the PhD dissertation

2. Three Letters of Reference - Each letter must be sent separately by the referee to the application website according to the instructions found on the website. One of the letters of reference must be from your dissertation supervisor.

3. Current Curriculum Vitae — no more than two pages in length

4. Original Graduate Transcript

• Please include a current transcript from all universities in which you have done your graduate (M.A. and Ph.D.) work.

 A letter from a prospective supervisor at a leading academic Canadian Institute confirming commitment to supervise your work should your application be successful.
