Support for Canadian Speakers

The Halbert Centre for Canadian Studies is able to assist in bringing Canadian speakers to the Hebrew University for a lecture (e.g. in a conference/ public lecture/ departmental seminar) on preferably Canada related topics. The maximum support sum is 1,500 CD, and the Halbert Centre will approve up to ten requests per year on a rolling basis.

Detailed requests, including the visit program, must be submitted to the Halbert Centre for Canadian Studies via email at least three months prior to the scheduled visit: halbert.centre@mail.huji.ac.il

The support of up to 1,500 CD will be granted in order to assist in covering the following expenses: travel expenses and/or accommodation expenses and/or one meal at a restaurant.

Utilization of the grant is valid beginning in October 2019 until September 2020. The budget will be managed by the Halbert Center, according to the budgetary details stated in the grant proposal.

 

Application Guidelines

The request should include the following details:

  1. The conference dates, topic, the conference program, the subject and the abstract (a draft is applicable as well) of the lecture the speaker will participate in.
  2. A short CV of the Canadian speaker
  3. The speaker's approval of his/her intention to participate in the conference – a recommendation of the relevant faculty dean or the head of the department justifying and supporting this speaker's participation in the conference

Please note: Following the Halbert Centre's approval of the grant:

  1. Clearly refer to the Halbert Centre's support for bringing the guest, in the conference's publications and program.
  2. If the Canadian speaker was unable to attend the conference in the end, the grant must be returned to the Halbert Centre
  3. . At the end of the conference / lecture/ seminar, the project managers are required to write a report summarizing the activity and send it to the Halbert Centre, to be distributed to the academic committee members in Israel and members of the advisory committee in Canada.

Applications are open to faculty members from the faculties of social science, humanities, law, social work, education and business administration.

תמיכה בהבאת מרצה קנדי להשתתפות בכנס/הרצאה ציבורית/סמינר מחלקתי באוניברסיטה העברית

מרכז הלברט ללימודים קנדיים יכול לסייע בהבאת מרצים מקנדה לאוניברסיטה העברית להרצאה (למשל בכנס /הרצאה ציבורית / סמינר מחלקתי) בנושאים בעלי תוכן קנדי.

גובה הסיוע הוא עד 1,500 דולר קנדי, ומרכז הלברט יממן עד עשר בקשות בשנה לפי סדר הגעתן. הסיוע יינתן לעזרה במימון הוצאות בתחומים הבאים: השתתפות בעלות כרטיס טיסה, ו/או לינה במלון ו/או אירוח חד-פעמי במסעדה.

על הבקשות המנומקות, כולל תכנית הביקור, להישלח בדוא"ל למרכז הלברט ללימודים קנדיים עד שלושה חודשים לפני מועד הביקור: halbert.centre@mail.huji.ac.il.

ניצול הסיוע האפשרי ניתן החל מאוקטובר ועד ספטמבר שלאחר מכן. התקציב ינוהל ע"י מרכז הלברט, לפי הסיעוף התקציבי שצוין בהצעה.

הנחיות להגשת הבקשה:

 לבקשה על התמיכה למרכז הלברט לכלול את הפריטים הבאים: 

  1. מועד הכנס, נושא הכנס, תכנית הכנס, נושא ההרצאה בה ישתתף המרצה מקנדה ותקציר ההרצאה (אפשר גם טיוטה). 
  2. קורות חיים מקוצרים של המרצה מקנדה 
  3. קבלת אישור מהמרצה על כוונתו להשתתף בכנס - המלצה של דיקן הפקולטה / או של ראש המחלקה להענקת התמיכה בהבאת המרצה לכנס.
  4. אישור ממארגני הכנס לפרסום הודעה לחברים ברשימת התפוצה של מרכז הלברט והזמנתם להרצאה זו.

לתשומת לב: לאחר קבלת אישור מרכז הלברט על המענק: 

  1. ציון תמיכת המרכז בהבאת האורח/ת בפרסומי הכנס ובתוכנית בצורה ברורה. 
  2. במידה שהמרצה לא יגיע בסופו של דבר לכנס, המענק יוחזר למרכז הלברט.
  3. בסוף הכנס/ ההרצאה/ הסמינר מתבקשים מנהלי הפרויקט להכין דו"ח פעילות מסכם אשר יועבר למרכז הלברט ויופץ לחברי הוועדה האקדמית בארץ ולחברי הוועדה המייעצת בקנדה.
